Mohak Nahta, the founder and CEO of the US-based startup Atlys, has announced that his company will provide free visas to all Indians for today, honoring a promise made before the Paris Olympics. The announcement comes in the wake of Indian javelin star Neeraj Chopra securing a silver medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Mohak Nahta had earlier promised that if Neeraj Chopra won a gold medal, he would provide a free visa to every Indian. While Chopra clinched a silver medal with an impressive throw of 89.45 meters, Nahta decided to uphold his commitment, highlighting the spirit and unity that Chopra’s performance represents.
In a heartfelt LinkedIn post, Nahta stated, “I promised a free visa if we won gold. Today, it’s clear—it’s not the color of the medal but our spirit that shines. To celebrate this achievement, I’m going ahead with our original offer of free visas for all Indians today.”
This gesture by Atlys has sparked widespread excitement and national pride, as it reflects not only the joy surrounding Chopra’s performance but also a celebration of the collective spirit of the nation.
Atlys has offered a free visa to any nation worldwide, valid only for today. The response to this initiative has been overwhelming, with the company’s platforms witnessing an increase in visits by over 124% and a significant doubling of user engagement.
Typically, a visa application involves a fee, but Atlys is waiving this cost entirely, covering both the service fee and the visa cost. As a result, Indians can apply for visas today without making any payment, effectively making the visa cost Rs 0.
India’s Neeraj Chopra, the defending Olympic champion, secured the silver medal in the Men’s Javelin Throw final with a throw of 89.45 meters. Pakistani javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem stunned the world by breaking the Olympic record with a throw of 92.97 meters, securing the gold medal at the final held at Stade de France on Thursday.
Chopra’s journey to the silver medal was not without challenges. His first throw was a foul, as his foot crossed the line. However, undeterred by the initial setback, Chopra launched his second throw, which soared through the Paris night, landing at 89.45 meters and securing him the silver medal behind Nadeem’s record-breaking performance.
