Arooshi Singh Promoted to Chief People Officer at Unacademy

Edtech giant Unacademy has announced the promotion of Arooshi Singh from Director of People Experience and Culture to Chief People Officer (CPO). Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and co-founder Gaurav Munjal shared the news in a recent Slack message, highlighting his enthusiasm for Singh’s advancement after her dedicated tenure of over seven years with the company.

“Arooshi has demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment during her time at Unacademy. We are thrilled to see her take on this critical role as we continue to evolve our workplace culture and enhance employee experience,” Munjal stated.

Singh succeeds Sandhydeep Purri, who took on the role of CPO in November 2023. Singh’s journey at Unacademy began as a junior staff member focusing on employee wellness, and she has since made substantial contributions across various HR functions.

This promotion is part of a broader restructuring at Unacademy, marking the third high-profile appointment in 2024. Earlier this year, in January, Jagnoor Singh was appointed Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Unacademy Centres, and last month, Abhishek Pipara was elevated to Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for the offline business.

The leadership changes come amid a year of notable departures at Unacademy, including co-founder Hemesh Singh and Chief Operating Officer Vivek Sinha, who exited in August 2023. The company also saw Group CFO Subramanian Ramachandran leave in October.

In addition to these changes, Unacademy recently published its financial results for the fiscal year ending March 2024. The company reported stable revenue of Rs 988 crore while significantly reducing its losses by an impressive 62 percent.
