In a move that could shake up the hyperlocal grocery scene, KiranaPro, a fast-growing quick commerce platform, has acquired Joper.app, a hyperlocal delivery service that connects Kirana stores with customers. While the financials remain hush-hush, the deal will see Joper app’s network of vendors, stores, and customers likely to be fully absorbed in KiranaPro’s expanding business.
The acquisition isn’t just about adding numbers- it’s a strategic play to boost vendor acquisition, strengthen hyperlocal marketing, and deepen relationships with small grocery stores. Joper.app, which operated in 25 cities including Ranchi, Thane, Kolkata, Jaipur, Mysuru, Noida, and Vaishali, had built a reputation for helping local kirana stores digitise and scale without the backing of big money or flashy tech. Now, its expertise in local vendor outreach and customer engagement will fuel KiranaPro’s rapid expansion.
“This acquisition not only strengthens KiranaPro’s presence in the hyperlocal commerce space but also ensures better tech-enabled solutions for local store owners, improving efficiency and customer experience. The move aligns with KiranaPro’s mission to empower small retailers, helping them compete with major quick commerce giants,” said Deepak Ravindran, Co-Founder and CEO of KiranaPro.
For Sumit Gorai, Founder of Joper.app, the deal marks a new chapter. Joper had been operating on a rented platform, making digital commerce work for small store owners without deep-pocketed investors. But long-term growth needed a stronger tech backbone. “Just like KiranaPro, Joper’s mission has always been to empower small Kirana store owners by bridging the gap between local businesses and digital commerce. While we successfully onboarded numerous vendors and built a loyal customer base, I realised that long-term growth demands a strong, customisable technology platform. Partnering with KiranaPro presents the perfect opportunity to scale this vision using their advanced AI-driven tools, ONDC integration, and voice-enabled ordering system,” said Gorai.
KiranaPro, founded by Deepak Ravindran and Dipankar Sarkar, is building a stronghold in the quick commerce space by making Kirana stores digitally competitive. The company’s AI-powered platform enables 10-minute grocery deliveries, allowing small retailers to stand their ground against giants like Zepto and Blinkit.
The deal also comes as KiranaPro nears the close of its seed funding round, a move first reported by Entrackr in October. While the company hasn’t disclosed numbers, the fresh capital and acquisition indicate aggressive expansion plans. With the quick commerce industry projected to hit $5.5 billion in India by 2025, KiranaPro is placing its bets on small neighbourhood stores rather than large warehouses.
