Food and grocery delivery giant Zomato has officially rebranded itself as Eternal Limited following the Corporate Affairs Ministry’s (MCA) approval. The change came into effect on March 20, 2025, after Zomato’s shareholders approved a special resolution to rename the corporate entity.
Despite the rebranding, Zomato’s food delivery business and app will retain its original name. However, the corporate entity will now be known as Eternal Limited, along with its stock ticker.
In a regulatory filing, the company stated: “…We wish to inform you that the Registrar of Companies, Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), has approved the change in name of the company from ‘Zomato Limited’ to ‘Eternal Limited’, with effect from March 20, 2025. The name of the company, thus, stands amended to ‘Eternal Limited’ with effect from March 20.”
Eternal’s Business Portfolio
The newly formed Eternal Limited will comprise four major businesses:
Zomato (food delivery)
Blinkit (quick commerce)
District (yet to be detailed)
Hyperpure (B2B supplies)
Deepinder Goyal on the Rebranding
In a letter to shareholders last month, Zomato Founder and CEO Deepinder Goyal explained the rationale behind the rebranding:
“Our Board has approved this change today and I request our shareholders to also support this change. If and when it is approved, our corporate website will transition from zomato.com to eternal.com. We will also change our stock ticker.”
Goyal emphasized that Blinkit’s rapid growth played a key role in the decision:
“When we acquired Blinkit, we started using ‘Eternal’ (instead of Zomato) internally to distinguish between the company and the brand/app. We also thought that we would publicly rename the company to Eternal, the day something beyond Zomato became a significant driver of our future. Today, with Blinkit, I feel we are there. We would like to rename Zomato Ltd, the company (not the brand/app), to Eternal Ltd.”
What’s Next?
Following the name change, the company’s corporate website will transition from zomato.com to eternal.com, marking a new chapter for the company as it expands beyond its core food delivery business.
