Continuing its acquisition spree, Google-backed edtech platform Adda247 has acquired PrepInsta, a placement preparation platform for engineering students. With this acquisition, Adda247 has further expanded its role as an integrated provider of job-focused education and skilling programmes across both private and public sector jobs. The financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
Bimaljeet Singh Bhasin, CEO of skilling and higher education business at Adda247, shared his excitement about the acquisition, stating, “This collaboration opens up opportunities for us to launch job-focused skilling initiatives across B2C, helping professionals build tech and digital careers and enterprises, helping organisations build high-quality talent.”
PrepInsta, founded in 2019, provides preparation tools for students seeking careers in data science, full-stack development, and software engineering. The platform supports aspirants in emerging fields such as Gen AI, AI/ML, Cloud, and Data. By integrating PrepInsta’s offerings, Adda247 aims to strengthen its focus on skilling students and professionals in technology-related careers.
This acquisition marks Adda247’s fourth buyout. The edtech firm previously acquired StudyIQ, a UPSC preparation platform in 2021; Veeksha, an AR/VR learning platform in 2023; and Ekagrata Eduserv, a chartered accountancy test prep firm in July of this year.
Discussing the company’s vision, Bhasin further emphasized the importance of focusing on key sectors such as banking, financial services, insurance, and technology. He said, “Tech is the largest employer purely in terms of numbers and given our aspiration to be a significant player in job-related programmes and offerings, technology as a sector makes a lot of sense for us to focus on.”
PrepInsta co-founder Atulya Kaushik commented on the synergy between the two companies, stating, “Adda247’s user base also has many engineering students & freshers which will help us provide tech and digital skilling programs to Adda247’s more than 1.2mn paid users.”
Adda247, founded in 2016 by Anil Nagar and Saurabh Bansal, is an edtech platform specializing in government job preparation, with a strong focus on Tier-2 cities and beyond. It has over 40 million monthly users and 2 million students enrolled in its premium courses, which are available in 12 regional languages.
Supported by investors such as WestBridge, Google, Info Edge, and Asha Impact, Adda247 has seen significant growth. In FY24, the company recorded an 88% year-on-year revenue increase, reaching INR 243.39 Cr, up from INR 129.65 Cr in the previous fiscal year. Additionally, the company managed to narrow its net loss by 66%, reducing it to INR 101 Cr from INR 296 Cr in FY23.
Adda247 last secured $35 Mn in 2022 through a funding round led by WestBridge Capital, with participation from Google and other existing investors, including Info Edge Ventures and Asha Impact. To date, the company has raised a total of $63 Mn.
With PrepInsta now a part of its portfolio, Adda247 aims to strengthen its presence in the technology skilling space, equipping job seekers with the tools they need to build successful careers in the digital age.
