In a significant move to enhance its global footprint, California-based enterprise AI platform Glean Technologies has announced the opening of its inaugural office in Bengaluru, India. The new office spans approximately 26,000 square feet and will serve as the central hub for the company’s operations in India, encompassing finance, sales, research and development, and business operations.
Founded in 2019 by Arvind Jain, Vishwanath T R, Tony Gentilcore, and Piyush Prahladka, Glean Technologies is renowned for its innovative enterprise search and knowledge management solutions. The platform enables companies to search, access, and manage their data and information across various platforms by connecting their applications and databases.
“Glean is an enterprise AI platform for all of the company’s data. You can think of it as the Google or ChatGPT, but inside your company. It can answer any questions that your employees have using your private company knowledge. Today, AI is all about helping you get the information you need. But very quickly, it’s going to transform to an AI that works with you,” said Arvind Jain, Founder and CEO of Glean Technologies, during a press briefing. “You will see all kinds of chatbots and systems that go beyond helping you find information. But the future is even more powerful. We will be living in a world where AI is going to work for us,” he added.
Headquartered in Palo Alto, California, Glean Technologies has successfully raised $350 million from top investors such as General Catalyst, Kleiner Perkins, Sequoia Capital, and Lightspeed Venture Partners, boasting a valuation of over $2.2 billion. The company’s ambitious expansion plan includes increasing its workforce from 150 to over 450 employees by next year. Glean Technologies has already recruited around 12 students from the top five IITs—Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur, Madras, and Kharagpur—since December last year.
The Bengaluru office will be a pivotal center for the company’s research and development efforts. “We are going to be hiring a lot in R&D. A lot of cutting-edge AI work that we’re doing inside our company is going to be happening in our Bangalore site. We are also hiring significantly in other departments, like customer support, marketing, sales, and business developments,” Jain elaborated.
In addition to bolstering its workforce, Glean Technologies is actively expanding its customer base in the APAC region through strategic partnerships with prominent enterprise firms. These include a Southeast Asian commercial bank, a global electronics and entertainment firm, and a global automotive manufacturer.
