Bhavish Aggarwal, the Founder and CEO of Ola, has asserted that India is on the brink of becoming a global leader in artificial intelligence (AI), drawing a parallel to China’s dominance in manufacturing. In a recent post on the social media platform X, Aggarwal emphasized the vast potential India holds in the AI sector, citing the country’s significant talent pool and resources.
“India has the largest number of developers in the world. It also has the largest number of silicon designers in the world, largest amount of data in the world, and the largest IT services industry in the world,” stated Aggarwal. He stressed that this transformation “will not automatically happen unless we make it happen.”
The Indian government has given a significant boost to this vision with the approval of the India AI Mission, allocating Rs 10,372 crore. Of this, Rs 2,000 crore is dedicated to supporting the Indian startup ecosystem in developing indigenous AI-based solutions. The latest IDC report indicates that spending on AI and Generative AI (GenAI) in India is projected to reach $6 billion by 2027, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 33.7 percent.
Human-centric mobile artificial intelligence is seen as the future, with experts advocating for open collaboration within the industry and a distinct approach to hybrid AI to enhance user experiences. During an AI session in Paris, experts highlighted the necessity of responsible innovation, emphasizing that it is not sufficient to innovate for the sake of progress alone
