MITHRON (Me & Drone), India’s first and only drone aggregation and pilot management application, has announced securing a fresh seed investment from Chennai-based angel investors. This new infusion of capital will enable MITHRON to accelerate its growth, expanding its innovative services across more regions and solidifying its position in India’s burgeoning drone economy. Earlier this year, MITHRON also received capital funding from Alternative Investment Fund (AIF), which has facilitated the launch of its own fleet services.
Founded in 2023 by Rajesh Krishnan, an alumnus of MIT College, and Anitha Boominathan, MITHRON India Smart Services Private Limited is incubated by AU AIC. The company has developed a unique platform integrating WhatsApp, browser links, and IVR technologies to connect with users across India’s Tier I, II, and III regions. MITHRON’s agri-focused platform offers specialized dashboards for a range of users, including drone pilots, drone owners, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), smart farmers, and lessees. The system’s streamlined interface helps users manage business activities effectively without repeated calls to customers and pilots, introducing a unique booking concept for simplified communication.
The MITHRON mobile application, available on Google Play Store, currently supports 12 types of drones, including those for movies, fish feeding, solar panel cleaning, and surveying, as well as comprehensive technical services for drone repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance. Recognizing the potential for drones to become as ubiquitous as two-wheelers in India, the app facilitates technical services and is accessible in 10 different languages. Over 150 drone pilots have already joined the platform, contributing to an ecosystem that benefits both users and service providers. One such pilot, Livin, recently earned Rs 2.2 lakh in a single month through aggregated orders on MITHRON.
Rajesh Krishnan, Co-Founder of MITHRON, expressed enthusiasm about the investment, stating, “With this funding, we’re poised to expand our fleet services across high-demand regions and introduce our application to Southeast Asian countries through our signed MoUs. We’re also exploring a technological collaboration with an AI partner to bring advanced services to our platform.”
The startup’s commitment to fostering India’s drone ecosystem was recognized with its selection as the StartupTN TANSEED finalist of 2024. The company’s future vision is to forge partnerships with drone manufacturers to deliver a comprehensive and accessible drone service experience.
MITHRON has set ambitious goals, aligning with India’s vision to be the global hub for drone innovation by 2030. Rajesh noted, “India aims to become the global drone economy hub by 2030, and we are establishing India’s affordable drone service ecosystem using a technology platform mentored by skilled experts.”
The company plans to leverage the latest investment to scale geographically and implement more advanced AI-driven features, thereby strengthening its presence in India and exploring international markets. Their mobile application is already making an impact in India’s agricultural landscape by empowering farmers with versatile drone services at their fingertips.
